Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using The Stamp Database (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing The Stamp Database at any of our domains, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and API consumers.
The Stamp Database is operated by Preservation Network LLC, a limited liability company. References to "we," "us," or "our" refer to Preservation Network LLC.
2. Use of Service
You may use The Stamp Database for personal, educational, research, and commercial purposes, subject to the following restrictions. You may not:
- Scrape or bulk-download data in a manner that disrupts service for other users
- Use automated tools to access the Service at rates exceeding API rate limits
- Attempt to circumvent access controls, API key requirements, or rate limiting
- Use the Service to facilitate any illegal activity
- Misrepresent our data as your own without attribution
Bulk data access is available through our API. API users must register for an API key and comply with per-tier rate limits.
3. Content and Data
The data in The Stamp Database is compiled from public records, manufacturer sources, community contributions, and licensed third-party datasets. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but cannot guarantee that all information is complete, current, or free from error.
Factual data (dimensions, dates, specifications) is not copyrightable under US law and may be freely used. Our original written content, editorial descriptions, and compiled database structure are protected by copyright and owned by Preservation Network LLC.
If you believe data in our database is inaccurate, please contact us at hello@thepreservationnetwork.org with a correction and supporting source.
4. API Access
API access is provided to registered users subject to rate limits and acceptable use. Free tier API keys are subject to lower rate limits. Commercial and institutional tiers are available; contact us for pricing.
You may not resell API access or use the API to build a competing database service without a commercial license agreement. Attribution is required when displaying data from our API in a public-facing application.
5. Privacy
Your use of The Stamp Database is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in that policy.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Preservation Network LLC expressly disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any information in the database.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Preservation Network LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of the Service shall not exceed $100 USD.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
We will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users of significant changes via email or an in-app notice.
